V/C

Rating: PG-13

Size: 8 1/2 x 11, 52 p, some art.

Art Information: cartoon-style art by Melody Rondeau

Ordering Information: Unknown

Additional Information: An irreverent Vincent/Catherine parody zine. Catherine has a German Shepherd named Killer and a tomcat felinoid named Vincent. Vincent, in turn, has: whiskers, a tail, no morals, foul language, a habit of getting high on catnip and then throwing up, and a distinct resemblance to Fritz the Cat. He's not litterbox-trained, either.

Tales From the Litterbox 2

ed. by Peg Kennedy and Bill Hupe

February, 1993

V/C

Rating: PG

Size: 8 1/2 x 11, 83 p, clear typescript, some art.

Art Information: Cindy Brink, Anne Davenport, Gamin Davis, TACS

Ordering Information: Unknown

Additional Information: Not satirical, like the previous volume, this anthology zine seems more like an introduction to B&B than an exploration or extension of its themes. Parts are multimedia (mixing B&B with characters from other series). In Teri Sarick's anecdote "Tunnel Child," the titular child muses on what it means to be rich. In Anne Davenport's "Cat's Parlor," V has a fairly humorous run-in with Spiderman. Louann Qualls' brief "Lion in the Park" involves V with a Timelord (Dr. Who) named Aslan. The novelette "Project: Prototype" by Gamin Davis, deals with V's origins as ex-Nazi doctors' experiment in breeding a master race. In all of these stories, V's relationship to C is acknowledged, but not the focus. Poetry by Gamin Davis, Michelle Perry, Jenny Bozovic.

Additional Information: Classic zine by Australian fans. Stories, according to the flyer, may or may not all be by the same author, Asonovski. Some are continuations of each other. Some are set during Vincent and Catherine's courtship whereas others are Continued Classic. "On a Darkling Plain" has Paracelsus threaten the tunnels with mustard gas and the tale is continued in "Water Music." "A Different Drum" involves Pascal with deaf ex-CIA cryptographer Ruth. In a "No Way Through," Vincent is kept out of the bathroom by a surprisingly flimsy (if intimate) barrier. In "The Reebok-eteer," Vincent finds he loves running in the Reeboks Catherine has given him. "Starry, Starry Night" offers sensuous interludes as Catherine spends a much-needed vacation Below. In "Operation Mouse Trap," Jamie attempts to get Mouse's undivided (and romantic) attention and succeeds only too well when they're trapped by a rockfall. In "What Great Beast," Catherine accuses Vincent of having absconded with her hairbrush. And in the Continued Classic "The King of Hell," dead Paracelsus' followers kidnap young Jacob...to be their king. At least some of the included poems are by Asonovski, as well.

Almedina's "Once Upon a Faerie Tale" offers an alternative of V/C's meeting: V is the immortal lord of a faerie castle; Lady C, engaged to Lord Elliot, becomes lost in the wood, is rescued from wolves by V and, as his guest, falls in love with him. In Blighton's "Of Time, Love and Tenderness," C gently ministers to a mute, injured V after the Trilogy. Also more vignettes from Cox, Almedina.

Rating: PG

Size: 11 x 8 1/2, 49 p, hand stamped calligraphic lettering, some unnumbered art.

Art Information:The two illustrations, both in color, are by Colby Pfeil.

Ordering Information: Unknown

Additional Information: This zine is a story of V/C before they met one another. Vaguely dissatisfied C, just moving into her high-rise apartment, discusses romantic prospects with cynical, wise-cracking Jenny. Lonely V visits Mr. Smyth's bookshop, having finally accumulated enough cash to purchase a treasured volume of Rilke's poems. Smyth regretfully admits to just having sold, that day, to a deserving woman (C). V admires an unfinished painting in the rear of the shop, finding in the still-faceless embracing figures some spark that reignites his romantic longings, which he'd been almost prepared to give up. Each of the sections is accompanied by a pertinent song of the time. Brown describes the zine as a 'parallel lives' prequel. This zine is bound on the short side of the page, and each letter has been hand-stamped.
