In "Once in a Lifetime," she tells Vincent she must separate herself from the tunnel community. In neither story is she romantically involved with Vincent. In Mills' "My Lover's Eyes," ill Vincent becomes the Beast, who rapes tunnel lady Meaghan, who promptly falls in love with him. Jacob is delighted at the prospect of having a new mom.
